I’m now using the reverbnation.com mailer program to handle all of my “Michael Gaither mailing list” messages. If you’re on list and don’t seem to be regularly receiving messages from me – I send about one a month – follow these steps to make sure my incoming messages aren’t accidentally being marked as “spam” by your email program:

Follow the instructions for your mail client below:

For Outlook 2003:
Add @reverbnation.com to your Safe Senders list:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, click Junk E-mail.
  3. On the Safe Senders tab, click Add.
  4. In the Add address, put @reverbnation.com
  5. Click OK.

For AOL:
Please add the “From address”, @reverbnation.com, to your AOL address book:

  1. Please open the email and then click the This Is Not Spam button.
  2. Click the Mail menu and select Address Book.
  3. Wait for the “Address Book” window to pop up, then click the Add button.
  4. Wait for the “Address Card for New Contact” window to load.
  5. Paste @reverbnation.com into the “Other E-Mail” field.
  6. Make the From address the “Primary E-Mail” address by checking the associated check box.
  7. Click the Save button.

For Yahoo:
You will need to set up a filter to redirect our email into your inbox:

  1. If my email is getting stuck in your Yahoo Bulk Folder, please open the email and click the Not Spam button.
  2. Check to see if the email address is in your “Blocked Addresses” list.
  3. If you see @reverbnation.com on this list, select it and click the Remove Block button.
  4. Open your mailbox and click on Mail Options (upper right hand corner).
  5. Select Filters (bottom left corner).
  6. Click the Add link on the Filters page.
  7. Update the “From header:” rule with the following 2 pieces of information: “contains” and @reverbnation.com. (This tells Yahoo to identify the email is based on its From address.
  8. Click the Choose Folder pull down menu and select Inbox.
  9. Pick the Add Filter button.

For Hotmail:
You will need to add the From address, @reverbnation.com, to your Hotmail Safe List:

  1. If my email is in your Junk E-Mail Folder, open the email and click the Not Junk button.
  2. Check to see if my email address
    (either michael@michaelgaither.com or @reverbnation is in your Blocked Senders list. If you see either address on this list, select it and click the Remove button.
  3. Open your mailbox and click “Options” (upper right hand corner).
  4. Click the “Junk E-Mail Protection” link (top of page).
  5. Select the “Safe List” link (2nd from bottom).
  6. Copy and paste @reverbnation.com into the dialog box titled “Type an address or domain”.
  7. Click the “Add” button next to the dialog box.

for Gmail:
Please add the From address, @reverbnation.com, to your Gmail Contacts List:

  1. If the email is in your Spam Folder, check mark the box next to the email in the Spam list and click the Not Spam button along the top.
  2. Click Contacts along the left side of any Gmail page.
  3. Click Add Contact.
  4. Copy and paste the From address, @reverbnation.com into the primary email address dialog box.
  5. Click Save.

For Mozilla Thunderbird:
You will need to add the From address, @reverbnation.com, to your Thunderbird Address Book and configure your Junk Mail Controls to white list your address book.

  1. If my email is in your Junk folder, right-click on my email and choose “Mark – As Not Junk”.
  2. Click the Address Book button.
  3. Make sure the Personal Address Book is highlighted.
  4. Click the New Card button. This will launch a New Card window that has 3 tabs: Contact, Address & Other.
  5. Under the Contact tab, copy and paste the “From” address, @reverbnation.com into the Email dialog box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. White list your Personal Address Book:
  8. From the main drop down menu, select “Tools – Junk Mail Controls…”
  9. This will launch the Junk Mail Controls window that has two tabs: Settings and Adaptive Filter
  10. Under the Settings tab, update the “White Lists” module by selecting Personal Address Book from the pull down menu and then check mark the box next to “Do not mark messages as junk mail”.
  11. Click OK.
