What better way to kick off our first band show of ’09 than with a little concert to celebrate the new “Dogspeed” CD? And what better place to have it at than Jansen Music in Watsonville. This little event is courtesy of our good pal Marky of the Canyon Acoustic Society and store owner Jody (Marky’s brother, not completely un-coincidentally).

You native folk know that Jansen’s has been around for decades. The original Main Street locale is where I bought my first 45s (Chuck Berry’s “Rock Around the Clock” and Dobie Grey’s “Drift Away”.) It’s also where I bought my first guitar, a finely-tuned masterpiece of plywood and Elmer’s glue. These days my guitar of choice is a Blueridge BG-40 with a B-band pickup. Also purchased from Jansen’s. Obviously, I’m quite fond of the place.

The event runs from 1-4 pm. And in keeping with the spirit of the “Dogspeed” record, we’ll have a few adoptable dogs on hand from AFRP – including “Evie”, our latest foster pup.

We’ll be playing songs from both the “Dogspeed” and “Spotted Mule…” records. We’re also dusting off some songs we haven’t played in ages and telling everyone they’re new tunes. Come on down and have a listen, buy a CD or two, meet a few adorable pups, eat a bit, and browse around the store. This event’s a freebie. Hope to see you there.

Jansen Music is at 1931 Main Street in Watsonville.
