With over ten CDs of original material to her credit, and songwriting awards from both the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Cosy Sheridan is simply one of the best singer-songwriters you’ll ever hear. In concert, it’s a feast of songs that make you laugh (a LOT) and songs that make you tear up and think.

When not performing she’s an active teacher, spending much of her time in music camps across the country. Case in point: This interview took place in Santa Cruz, CA, right after Cosy taught at this summer’s California Coast Music Camp. This November 1-6, she’ll be at the Moab Folk Camp.

In this short interview – we had time to chat just before her set at The Ugly Mug Cafe, Cosy talks about her different songwriting styles and how certain alternate tunings help dictate different songs.

This episode features the title track and “Welcome to Boston” from her new release, “Pretty Bird”. and “Do You Love the Life You Made” from her “Solo Songbook” record. For you guitar players out there, Cosy has documented the solo arrangements in this book from Amazon.com – including explanations on her use of open tunings and partial capos.
