We’ve done pretty well with my completely artificial, self-imposed deadline of having the new record (yeah, I still call ’em “records”) done by December. I’m actually heading over to Santa Cruz this afternoon to record my pieces of the last two tracks.<\/p>\n

I stuck to the name “Dogspeed”, and contrary to the reaction I usually receive, this is *not* a record full of songs about dogs. (That’s been done.) The title track is a ballad, and there’s a newer song about “Roselle”<\/a>, one of the slightly unsung heroes of 911. The rest of the CD is filled with Americana stories, much like my first CD, “Spotted Mule and Other Tales”<\/a>.

\nThe songs are (intentionally) all over the map. Some are quiet, some not so much. There’s electric and acoustic guitars, some harmonica, and even a little ukelele on two of the tracks. If you’d like to hear a sample, I put together a medley on the music player over on my Music page<\/a>. This montage includes pieces of “Tupelo Honey” (driven by a ukelele), “Hang It Up”, “I Miss My Town”, “Dogspeed”, and “Gettin’ To My Glory Days”. This track is the first song in the player, and I titled it “Dogspeed preview”. (Clever, huh?)<\/p>\n
