He won the Kerrville New Folk award for songwriting. Last week, <a href=\"http:\/\/ernesttroost.com\/index\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ernest Troost<\/a> and I sat around my kitchen table playing <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Six_Degrees_of_Kevin_Bacon\" target=\"_blank\">One Degree of Kevin Bacon<\/a>, and I learned how he moved back to songwriting after a visit to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mccabes.com\/condata.html\" target=\"_blank\">McCabe&#8217;s Guitar Shop<\/a> in Santa Monica CA.<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xgMnKbFxhxU\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Ernest moved to Los Angeles a couple of decades ago with the intent of composing and conducting music for film and television. He was successful, but after that night at McCabe&#8217;s, he caught the songwriting bug. (He&#8217;d written songs in his youth but veered towards composing.) He&#8217;s since recorded four blues-based independent CDs, including <a href=\"http:\/\/ernesttroost.com\/buy_music\/live_at_mccabe39s_music_store\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Live at McCabe&#8217;s&#8221;<\/a> and his latest, <a href=\"http:\/\/ernesttroost.com\/buy_music\/o_love_music_store\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;O Love&#8221;<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Lots of great music in this one.
