In this second half, we\u2019ll focus on Will&#8217;s new CD, <a href=\"http:\/\/willkimbrough.com\/store\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cSideshow Love\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(If you missed it, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/archives\/5880\" target=\"_blank\">click here to listen to part one<\/a> of the interview with Brigitte and Will.)<\/p>\n<p>We continue our chat with a quick look at writing, comparing the &#8220;write every day,&#8221; &#8220;write when you&#8217;re inspired,&#8221; and &#8220;write when you have a deadline&#8221;-types of people. (Funny how a deadline can often give you a LOT of inspiration.) We also compare writing tools. Brigitte likes her iPhone and a leather notebook. Will prefers dictating to his phone, which often gives interesting, not-auto-corrected results. <\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-xNhfTcuvA4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Many of us first heard Will when he was playing guitar in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5mtNSdosv1Y\" target=\"_blank\">Todd Snider<\/a> and (later) Rodney Crowell&#8217;s bands. He&#8217;s a formidable musician &#8211; he was voted the 2004 <a href=\"http:\/\/willkimbrough.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instrumentalist of the Year<\/a> by the Americana Music Association, a title that had been previously held for three years by Jerry Douglas. <\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Will has always first and foremost been a performing songwriter &#8211; he&#8217;s still active with his own bands. When Todd Snider called, being a sideman became a sort of day job. With &#8220;Sideshow Love&#8221;, Will&#8217;s become equally known for his fine songwriting as well as his kick-ass guitar playing. <\/p>\n<p>Note: I highly recommend visiting Will&#8217;s web site, and in particularly, watching his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCfcuh1Zbzq134NKFQIrvj8w\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Lick of the Day&#8221;<\/a> videos. He breaks apart many classic (mostly blues) riffs that inspired him. It&#8217;s a great teaching tool, and a fun way to learn where he is and what he&#8217;s up to. <\/p>\n<p>Both parts one and two of these interviews were recorded at <a href=\"kpig.com\" target=\"_blank\">KPIG Radio<\/a>, shortly before Brigitte and Will\u2019s on-air appearances.
