If it weren&#8217;t for El Azteca, Watsonville might have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=U09L9VCQ7IY&amp;list=UUtzseDzL8qakcgMxy03e_eA\" target=\"_blank\">yet another taqueria<\/a>*. Fortunately for Bourne Archer &#8211; and us &#8211; when Bourne was scouting restaurant locations and found himself at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corralitoshistory.com\/five_mile.html\" target=\"_blank\">historical Five Mile House property<\/a> outside of Watsonville CA, there wasn&#8217;t room for another eating establishment. We instead ended up with <a href=\"http:\/\/treasuresroadhouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Treasures Roadhouse&#8221;<\/a>, the newest music venue in south Santa Cruz County.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/rhan_wilson_and_friends_at_treasures_roadhouse.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-5571 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/rhan_wilson_and_friends_at_treasures_roadhouse-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"rhan_wilson_and_friends_at_treasures_roadhouse\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>In this new podcast, we learn how, on a whim, Bourne walked into one of the vacant buildings that had been a stove place and Curves in previous incarnations. Bourne realized he was looking at a theater in the making. This was early Spring of 2013. Bourne (who&#8217;s also a singer) enlisted the help of local musicians <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhanwilson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rhan Wilson<\/a> and Rick Zeek. A stage was built. Sound was wired. Tim Prince of Ridgetop Sound came in and treated the room. Treasures Roadhouse did a soft launch last fall and officially opened late last year. It&#8217;s now seriously one of the finest music rooms in the county &#8211; whether you&#8217;re a player or an audience member.<\/p>\n<p>Treasures is catching on as a stopover gig for touring musicians: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/rhan_wilson_and_friends_at_treasures_roadhouse1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-5572\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/rhan_wilson_and_friends_at_treasures_roadhouse1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"rhan_wilson_and_friends_at_treasures_roadhouse\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Austin&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/archives\/5428\" target=\"_blank\">Gurf Morlix<\/a> did a sold out show in April, and LA songsmith <a href=\"http:\/\/bradcolerick.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brad Colerick<\/a> returns on August 8th. It&#8217;s fast becoming a hangout and venue of choice for many locals with its &#8220;Sunday Music Live&#8221; series showcasing local talent. The venue itself is also becoming popular as a facility for recording and practice sessions, private parties, and weekend music workshops.<\/p>\n<p>This podcast includes a couple of live clips from Treasures shows: A cover of &#8220;The Old Country Church&#8221; from the Rhan Wilson and Friends production, &#8220;Hank Williams Reincarnated&#8221;, and &#8220;Jubliee&#8221;, an original from the duo <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reverbnation.com\/madrigalandstrange\" target=\"_blank\">Madrigal and Strange<\/a>.
