After doing a few episodes of &#8220;stories behind the songs&#8221;, and realizing the time it would take to put those together on a regular basis, I decided to make this an interview series instead. Case in point: This month&#8217;s visit with my pal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aireeneespiritu.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aireene Espiritu<\/a> and the London-based band <a href=\"http:\/\/thehobos.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Hobos<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/aireene_espiritu.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/aireene_espiritu-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"aireene_espiritu\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5367\" \/><\/a>This interview combines the best of both: A chat with a good friend who&#8217;s been on the podcast before &#8211; Aireene was a guest in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/archives\/182\" target=\"_blank\">episode #24<\/a> &#8211; and a visit with artists I met literally minutes before I hit the record button. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Screen-shot-2014-02-21-at-12.21.09-PM.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Screen-shot-2014-02-21-at-12.21.09-PM-150x150.png\" alt=\"Screen shot 2014-02-21 at 12.21.09 PM\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-5368\" \/><\/a>Aireene is a singer\/songwriter with an old-timey spirit, a beautiful voice, and a lot of finesse on the ukelele. We shared a bill at a house concert years ago and have been good friends ever since. The Hobos are an Americana band that Aireene toured with in Europe last summer. They came over here late last year to return the favor and do a west coast run with her. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/the-walking-dead-3-the-walking-dead-24037474-500-333.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michaelgaither.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/the-walking-dead-3-the-walking-dead-24037474-500-333-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"The Walking Dead 1.1 Days Gone By Behind The Scenes Andrew Lincoln\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5369\" \/><\/a>Fortunately for us, they also made time to drop by the house here to discuss the leisurely (hah) life of a touring musician, Aireene&#8217;s plans for recording her next record, the summer festival scene in Europe, American&#8217;s preoccupation with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahajokes.com\/banjo.html\" target=\"_blank\">banjo jokes<\/a>, and why no one will talk to Amy in The Hobos about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amctv.com\/shows\/the-walking-dead\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;The Walking Dead&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Want to see Aireene and me play live?
