They just seem to find us. And that’s perfectly okay. Casual visitors to this blog – wherever you find it and thanks for reading – know that my wife and foster (and find homes) for dogs through Animal Friends Rescue Project<\/a>. I love their process: They pull dogs on the short list from shelters. We screen applications filed through AFRP’s web site. And then we follow up with a thorough home, yard, and escape-proof-fence check.<\/p>\n

We’ve placed a lot of great dogs and met some incredibly nice people. We also receive a lot of “can you find my dog a home?” requests from people who know we do this. When it’s a request from a good friend for a great dog, we try to help. Besides, just like at how adorable this little guy is:<\/p>\n

Simi is a miniature Dachshund<\/a>, which means the photo above is almost actual size. Well, not really, but he’s on the small end of the dog scale. His owner is a good pal of mine. Life circumstances (nothing sad, just normal busy) means that Simi just isn’t getting the attention he needs.Their owners (and us) are looking for a perfect – it has to be perfect – home where Simi can land and be the center of attention. <\/p>\n

Quick stats: He’s a six-year old male, which means whoever gets him ends up with a great dog that doesn’t have to puppy trained: Simi is fixed, housebroken, weighs ten pounds, and is current on all his shots. He loves to play ball, as if the photo above didn’t give that away. He gets along okay with cats, but would prefer to be the only critter in the house. <\/p>\n
