But I don’t have one. And that’s kind of the point. The new CD – officially in the planning stages – has our old Starlite Drive-in as its centerpiece. A picture of the drive-in on the cover would be perfect.

Here’s the hitch: I cannot find a photograph of it. The Pajaro Valley Historical Association was surprised that they had nothing. A contact at the Pajaronian is looking around for me. In the meantime, I’d thought I’d try a plain and simple request here on the interwebs (along with FaceBook, Twitter, and everyplace else this little blog finds itself): Does anyone have any photos of the Starlite? I’m primarily looking for a good shot of the screen and the lot itself (meaning, yes, your photo could be on the cover of a CD.)

I’d also love pics of the marquee, the playground, the snack bar, old cars lined up twoards the screen, or even just shots of people who were there.

History for the under-30 readers: The Starlite was the place to hang out in our formative years (late ’70s). You hung a speaker on your car window and watched a movie. Sometimes. The Starlite stood on the very same spot where Starlight Elementary sits these days. (And if you’re too young to remember any of that, there’s a reasonable chance you were conceived at the drive-in.)

I’d love to document our old drive-in with a video and song. You can send any pics to me by email at michael@michaelgaither.com. If you have any particularly fond memories of the place, I’d love to hear about that, too.
