A little self confession from the web design side of things.

I’ve started my annual web site clean up, both to get ready for the new CD, and just because it’s good form to get rid of outdated content. Last Saturday, I scrubbed the Music page. Over the holidays, I’ll take a similar tact to the Gallery and Press pages. This main page, however, has blogs, a list of all my podcasts, places that play my music, etc. Lots of stuff, and I don’t see any way to streamline it.

Now I realize that I don’t really want to. 😉

My good pal Jennifer, who’s a web guru and one of my go-to people on these things, says “It might be a little busy, but it’s great stuff.”. My friend Guy, who’s also a big resource in maintaining this thing, put it this way: “Your main page is like a cereal box. There are ads to read and prizes inside to look for while you’re eating your cereal. And the content changes pretty much weekly, which keeps me coming back.”

So come back next week. Maybe I’ll cover why clutter here in my office in the real world is NOT such a good thing. Or we can run with the cereal idea and discuss the history of breakfast cereal. (Turns out it was partially started by early 19th century fundamentalists who were trying to save souls through better eating habits when the diet for many Americans consisted mainly of pork, coffee, and whiskey.)

Okay, now I’m hungry. Will it be a bowl of cereal, or a classic, old-fashioned plate of pork with a whiskey chaser? And can you still find Quisp anywhere?

Subscribe to this blog

www.michaelgaither.com

Clutter isn’t always a bad thing.
