Is it possible to get TOO much inspiration? Last weekend was a double shot of bay area favorites: On Friday, we caught Blah Blah Woof Woof<\/a> (Chuck McCabe<\/a>, Jay Howlett<\/a>, and Steve Kritzer<\/a>) at The Barn<\/a> in Gilroy. Then on Saturday, we headed over to my pal Marky’s Canyon Acoustic Society<\/a> house concert series to see Houston Jones<\/a> play in her living room. Back to back nights of incredible singing, writing, and playing.

\nThese are the kind of shows that normally get me thinking (out loud) “Should I be inspired, or just sell my guitar?” I’ll go with the first one, though when you’re watching that many folks play at that level of their game, it *is* incredibly humbling seeing how high the bar can be set. At the same time, yeah, it is pretty inspiring.<\/p>\n

I think learning about your craft (whether it’s music, quilting, carpentry, whatever) is a matter of “you’re never done, and you’re never quite there”. (Kind of like maintaining a web site. Heh. Heh.) It’s a constant uphill climb, but it’s a great hike.<\/p>\n

So onto more inspiration. This weekend is the Strawberry Music Festival<\/a>. The main stage features (to name a handful) Ricky Skaggs<\/a>, Emmylou Harris<\/a>, Tim O’brien<\/a> and John Cowan<\/a>), and the weekend promises several late-night picking sessions in our own Camp All Ya’ll<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But it just couldn’t stop there. On Saturday 5\/31 we have our own gig at The Barn<\/a>, and on both that Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be at Roudon-Smith Winery<\/a> during the day, playing their annual Vintner’s Festival.<\/p>\n

Then, on Monday 6\/2, I collapse.<\/p>\n

But I’ll still be inspired.
