What better way to kick off our first band show of ’09 than with a little concert to celebrate the new “Dogspeed”<\/a> CD? And what better place to have it at than Jansen Music<\/a> in Watsonville. This little event is courtesy of our good pal Marky of the Canyon Acoustic Society and store owner Jody (Marky’s brother, not completely un-coincidentally). <\/p>\n

You native folk know that Jansen’s has been around for decades. The original Main Street locale is where I bought my first 45s (Chuck Berry’s “Rock Around the Clock” and Dobie Grey’s “Drift Away”.) It’s also where I bought my first guitar, a finely-tuned masterpiece of plywood and Elmer’s glue. These days my guitar of choice is a Blueridge BG-40<\/a> with a B-band<\/a> pickup. Also purchased from Jansen’s. Obviously, I’m quite fond of the place.<\/p>\n

The event runs from 1-4 pm. And in keeping with the spirit of the “Dogspeed” record, we’ll have a few adoptable dogs<\/a> on hand from AFRP<\/a> – including “Evie”<\/a>, our latest foster pup.<\/p>\n

We’ll be playing songs from both the “Dogspeed”<\/a> and “Spotted Mule…”<\/a> records. We’re also dusting off some songs we haven’t played in ages and telling everyone they’re new tunes. Come on down and have a listen, buy a CD or two, meet a few adorable pups, eat a bit, and browse around the store. This event’s a freebie. Hope to see you there. <\/p>\n
