Our latest is “Kia”, most likely named after the car. Kind of appropriate, since she’s also from Taiwain. Animal Friends Rescue Project (AFRP), the west coast organization we volunteer with, has been given an influx of dogs from the Taichung Universal Animal Protection Association (TUAPA) in Taiwan. “Kia” is a Silkie, and not a Yorkshire Terrier, as first appearances might indicate. (Yorkie’s were actually bred from Silkie’s.)

Also note: Kia is not a chicken, as a casual search on Wikipedia would lead you to believe.

Kia

Kia’s a great little dog. Very much a lapster (she hopes up, cuddles, and is fast off to sleep.) She’s about three years old, is 90% housebroken, and gets along with our other dogs quite well. We have noticed she’s VERY interested in the neighbor’s cat, which can’t always be a good thing. (Though I’ve found a good swat or two from said cat quickly puts most dogs into sub-alpha mode.) If you happen to know of anyone on the lookout for a cuddly subcompact, submit an application on AFRP’s web site or just send me an email.

Watch this space in the coming months for a run of adoptable dogs that fit nicely into the “small and […]

[5

post-1593","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog
["GET
