You’ll never find discussion of politics or finance, and the only soapbox I’ll ever stand on in this forum is when I occasionally nag people to fix their pets. Still, there’s such an abundance of pop culture ramblings Twittering and linking around the interwebs that some of it is inevitably bound to spill in here on occasion.

Take bacon, for example. Bacon has evolved from a wonderfully high-fat, high-sodium, yet perfect breakfast food into a web-based pop culture phenomenon. Do a Google search on bacon, and you’ll find bacon boardgames, bacon toothpicks, bacon mints, and even recipes for bacon wrapped and baked in several layers of other meat products.

My pal Tommy up at the Sacramento Bee and I make it a weekly ritual to try and out-bacon each other with wackier and wackier uses of that wonderful salt-laden pig product. I think I won this week when I sent him this YouTube recipe for a bacon smoothie. Tommy sent me a one-word reply: “Ick”.

The Bacon Smoothie. No. Seriously.

I was kind of speechless, too. Especially when the guy in this clip drank the thing. I cannot fathom downing a bacon smoothie, especially since he used *limp* bacon. That’s just wrong. He could have at least used a *crisp* slice of bacon as a swizzle stick. Then I might consider.

I’ve made it a point to narrow the focus on this blog to (well, mostly) music news, podcast updates, or […]

[5,9

post-1489","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog","category-video
["GET
