Last week, I posted my first podcast (“Michael Gaither – Songs and Stories”) both here on my web site and up in Itunes. I was immediately greeted by two questions from a bunch of people: 1) What’s a podcast? and 2) Can I hear it if I don’t have an Ipod? Both questions have simple answers:<\/p>\n

1) A podcast<\/a> is just an MP3 audio file, like a little radio show, that you can download from the web and listen to at any time. If you have software that allows you to subscribe to a podcast, such as the free Itunes music player from Apple<\/a>, new episodes of that podcast are automatically downloaded to your computer. <\/p>\n

2) Short answer: Yes. You can download a podcast and dump it to your Ipod if you have one, but the gadget isn’t necessary. Since a podcast is just a big MP3 file, you can listen to it with any music player (again, or your computer.)<\/p>\n

In “Songs and Stories”, I’ll be picking apart some of my songs, taking audio tours behind-the-scenes of places we play, and eventually interviewing other musicians.
