If you’re new to my music or just interested in a nifty to place to literally hear about new Americana releases, check out the Ray Randall Reviews<\/a> weekly podcast. Ray reviews two CDs on each show, playing five song snippets from each disc. He pairs up new records* from Americana artists as diverse as Slaid Cleaves and The Wailin’ Jennys<\/a> or Merle Haggard and Neil Young<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Recently, Ray reviewed my CD Spotted Mule and Other Tales<\/a>, along with “Laps In Seven”, the new disc from mandolin legend Sam Bush. (Can’t ask for better company than that.) Ray played pieces of my songs Still Walkin’<\/a>, Spotted Mule<\/a>, Highway 17<\/a>, Takin’ Baby Steps<\/a>, and Good God Man How Big a Car Do You Need?<\/a>, giving the entire disc a very flattering review and awarding it “four bottlecaps” <\/p>\n

* Yeah, I still call them “records”. I read a Tom Petty interview recently. I’m paraphrasing, but he basically said, “Calling it a CD is impersonal. It’s a record of what that song sounded like on that day in that space.” I like that.<\/p>\n
