Odd as it might sound, it’s my favorite time of year: The holiday madness has yet to begin, the skies are gorgeous, and I get to finally break out my favorite wool coat.

(I *could* do without the end-of-the month time change…whoever pined for darkness at 4:30?…but you can’t have everything.)

The big news is that “the band” is finally together. Greg Scott (on bass) and I have been playing together for as long as I’ve been writing. While Greg was on the road much of last summer, I started playing with Aaron Bagchee (lead guitar) and Russ Van Scoy (harmonica and percussion). Now that Greg is out of vacation time and has to play “musician with a day job” for awhile like the rest of us, we’ve started practicing as four-piece band. It’s a pretty cool sound.

Here’s where we’ll be in October:

St. Lucy Parish School
Saturday October 7th, (THIS Saturday), 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
2350 Winchester Blvd, Campbell, CA

We’re kicking off the Saturday music at the annual Fun Fest fundraiser. This also sorta marks the official debut of the band. Greg and I played last year, and it was way fun. In addition to music from us, Dennis Ryan, Andrea Mantovani and Friends, and The Kat Parra Latin Jazz Quintet, there’ll be food and drink, carnival rides…and more than one or two songs about mules.

Blue Rock Shoot
Friday October 27th, 7:30 – 8:00 pm
14523 Big Basin Way, Saratoga, CA

We’re opening for the B.S. Band at this somewhat legendary folk/coffee venue in downtown Saratoga. Another local place I’ve wanted to play at for a long time.

Roudon-Smith Winery (Annual Post-Harvest Party)
Saturday and Sunday, October 28th and 29th, noon – 5:00 pm
2364 Bean Creek Road, Scotts Valley, CA

Our last gasp at playing outdoors before we head inside for the Fall and Winter. If you’ve been to Roudon-Smith, you know that David and Annette Hunt host a great party. Expect Wine tasting, arts and crafts, and more than one or two songs about cars and bad drivers. Besides me and the boys, the music will include John Cirillo, Christian Raphael, Bev Barnett and Greg Newlon, and Rob Hastings.

Many thanks for your support.
