I had the good fortune to open for Chuck Brodsky last month at the Mission City Coffee Roasting Co. in Santa Clara, CA. After the show, we talked about his approach to songwriting and discussed his new release, “Two Sets”. In this interview, Chuck explains the freedom that a narrative story gives him when writing lyrics. He also tells some of the stories behind some of the songs on the new record, including “Letters In the Dirt”, an ode to baseball great Richie Allen.
