She’s been called “an unbroken link between traditional American folksingers and today’s ‘new folk’ singer-songwriters.” This two-part “Songs and Stories” is a visit with local songwriter Mary McCaslin. In part one, Mary talks about her folk and western influences, her fondness for alternate guitar tunings, how she ended up as a columnist for the Santa Cruz Sentinel, and why she plays “Pinball Wizard” on a banjo. In part two, she plays and tells the stories behind her songs “Old Friends” and “Acres of Houses”.

Locally, Mary will be performing at benefits for KKUP DJ and musician Lisa Atkinson on September 5th and 10th. She’s also the September artist at the Canyon Acoustic Society on September 13th.
