Okay, so what’s with the mules?

It started with this bluegrass song Spotted Mule. A month or so back, I dropped by the ranch where the mule lives and gave a copy of the song to Krista, the mule’s trainer/owner. Krista introduced me to the the mule. The mule’s name is Icing, you know, like on a cake. I discovered that Icing is not the least bit camera shy. She’s also quite photogenic. Something told here “okay, here’s your CD cover”.

A few weeks later, me, my bass player Greg Scott, Icing, and my pal Ken Marks – with camera in hand – were out on the the last sunny weekend morning of the year – it’s December now, and “California cold” at a brisk 50 degrees – taking pictures. Eventually one of these will be on the CD. Of course “eventually” I’ll have a CD, too. Here are some highlights from the day:

Hay – Tastes like green tea ice cream

We had a blast with our little photo shoot. An interesting offshoot of this whole “Spotted Mule” story is that Krista is working on a training video – she’s a horse/mule trainer by trade – and will use the song in the video. When the video’s complete, I’ll link to it from here.

The End – That’s me on the left again
