This third in a series of talks with Texas singer-songwriters is a visit with second-generation artist Colin Gilmore. Besides obvious influences (his dad Jimmy Dale Gilmore and folks like Joe Ely), Colin talks about how choir, classical guitar, The Clash, and even Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album also shaped his musical tastes.

I visited with Colin in the middle of his first solo California tour. Colin explains some of the do-it-yourself aspects of booking your own shows, the differences between playing solo and with a band, and why he plans to play the west coast on a regular basis.
